Relação entre composição corporal e flexibilidade em atletas universitárias de voleibol

2020
Objective. Identify the relationship between body composition and flexibility of college volleyball athletes. Materials and Method. This is an ex post facto survey of 9 athletes of 19.78±2.22 years, the stature of 178.94 ± 6.37m, they were in the pre-competitive period to the Brazilian University Games. Flexibility was assessed using a goniometer and body composition was quantified with body mass and fat percentage. Data were expressed as mean and standard deviation and Pearson's test was used to identify the relationship between body composition and flexibility. The software used was Stata 10.0, with a 5% significance level. Result. The athletes showed a negative and strong correlation for body mass and external rotation of the right shoulder (r=-0.69; p=0.04), but also for fat percentage and hip flexion with the left knee extended (r=-0.72; p=0.03). Conclusion. The increase in body composition is related to less flexibility shoulder and hip in university volleyball athletes.
