A study of the scattering of 145 MeV protons from carbon using spark chambers

Abstract Measurements have been made of the differential cross sections for scattering 145 MeV protons from 12 C through angles in the range 20°–140° and of the asymmetries in scattering polarized protons through angles in the range 20°–85°. Results are given for elastic scattering, for scattering from the states at 4.4 and 9.6 MeV and for scattering from groups of states in the ranges 14±2.25 MeV and 18.5±2.25 MeV. Data were taken in 2.9° angular bins. The results are in good agreement with previous measurements in the range of overlap.
