Technology in biomedicine: the EMED pedar pressure measurement system

1999
Abstract This paper presents a philosophical perspective of the role of technology in biomedicine, which provides the context for an overview of the EMED pedar pressure measurement system. 1 This is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment with a number of applications in both the research and clinical arenas. As such, it is representative of, and raises issues related to, the role of technology in post-industrial western society both in a general sense, and specifically related to biomedicine.
