System architecture of the newly developed Microprocessor-Controlled Road Traffic Signalling System: “MICORTS” is described. The system can work as (i) an independent controller (ii) a part of an interlinked system (with or without cables) catering to 7 day plans, 8 cycle plans and 14 ‘fixed-time’ or ‘vehicle-actuated’ stages.
