Determination of Optimal Frequency on the Process of Semi-continuous Casting of Aluminum Alloy by CREM

2004
During the semi-continuous casting of aluminum alloy by CREM process, the distribution of magnetic flux density vector in space and melt; velocity flux as a function of radius of referenced cylinder under different frequency of electromagnetic field and the sump height are numerically studied. The results show that there is an optimal frequency range of electromagnetic field. In order to verity that, a series tests are also done subsequently. Their results are well coincide with each other. It is also show that in the range of 10~30Hz, the degree of non-dendritic structure of ingot is maximum; the distribution of alloying elements is most uniform and the solid solution of alloying elements in matrix is biggest promoted.
