Tipografia e alteridade: notas sobre edições indígenas

This article presents the subject of the printed indigenous editions, and proposes an analysis of typographical designs used in such publications. Its corpus consists of books belonging to the Acervo Indigena da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, ACIND (indigenous collection of the Federal University of Minas Gerais). In the literature review on the topic, we focused on two works, one that describes the collective process of editorial production in indigenous teacher training courses (LIMA, 2012), and another that deals specifically with aspects of typography in indigenous books (DINIZ, 2007). With regard to typography, we point out some issues in the analyzed projects which led us to the conclusion that it is important (as there is demand) and technically feasible the development of typographical projects specific to indigenous publications, which we have not seen occur, hence the uniqueness of the proposal. Thus, we seek to delineate ways that can guide and assist future productions of typographic design in order to meet the potential demand for indigenous typography
