O scurtă istorie a testelor de personalitate

2020
Personality is a subject that has been approached since ancient times, along with its testing techniques. Despite its long existence, major advances in personality theories have taken place since the late 19th century, with an explosion in the inter-war and post-war period. The development of psychology, statistical techniques and, later, neuroscience has propelled personality research into a new stage, with the emergence of the first theories with biopsychosocial basis. One of the most complex theories of personality is that of Robert C. Cloninger, which encompasses the models of Eysenck and Gray, to which he brings completions but also updates, in parallel with neuroscience findings. Cloninger's theory also integrates the psychological component represented by the integration of the person in the environment and the learning systems. Thus, this theory encompasses elements of psychology and neurobiology and provides an overview of personality. In order to evaluate it, a personality test has been developed which over time has been updated, today being in its final form – TCI-R (Temperament and Character Inventory – Revised). The high degree of details related to the personality traits offered by TCI-R could be used as a basis in the assessment of personality disorders.
