The Centromochlinae is a monophyletic group of auchenipterid catfishes characterized by mature males having an anal ending modified to form an intromittent organ (Soares-Porto, 1998; Birindelli et al., 2015). As remaining auchenipterids, center- mochlins are inseminating fishes, a unique feature that distinguishes this family among catfishes
