A new coupled field-circuit approach to calculate equivalent circuit parameters of the induction motor

2003
The equivalent parameters are most essential for the performances of the induction motor and its drive system. They can be calculated with the traditional method, but the obtained results may not be precise enough due to the difficulty in considering the influence of the saturation and operation conditions, especially in case of the induction motor with the solid rotor, because the parameters vary with the slip. A new approach to calculate the parameters based on the method coupled the magnetic field with the electric circuit is presented, in which both the saturation effect and operation condition are considered. As an example the parameters of an induction motor with the solid rotor are calculated. In fact, the new method is appropriate for the motors with solid or laminated rotor both.
