In Commentaar en discussie [Comment and Discussion], L. Huyse criticizes Matthijssen for using ill-defined terminology & for the fact that five definitions of 'educational inequality' are not on the same level: the first three deal with educational opportunities, the last two with "education & social life." The successive goals of the Belgian workers' movement relative to education (which correspond to the first three definitions) reflect a consistent vision of society. This refutes the thesis that different conceptions of educational problems correspond to different conceptions of social problems. HA
