Applications of the Delphi method in China

Abstract As an important and basic method of technological forecasting and technological assessment, the Delphi method has found extensive applications in China since 1980. On the basis of a number of Delphi interrogations, and through an exhaustive study of 31 Delphi forecasting applications in China, the authors have conducted a comparative, systematic discussion of the general situation of Delphi application, of its characteristics, of the response psychology of the experts and their attitude toward Delphi, and of some problems existing in the Delphi procedure. Lastly, the authors have put forward some new ideas of how to do a study of Delphi and how to improve its application.
