In situ formation TiC particles reinforced Fe-based alloy composite coating by GTAW

2006
Using preplaced Fe-based self-flux melting alloy with carbide forming elements Ti as well as graphite,Fe-based alloy composite coating reinforced by in situ TiC particles was produced on the substrate of carbon steel by gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) process.Microstructure and properties of the coating were investigated by means of SEM,cEPMA,X-ray diffractmeter and analysis system of image. The results show that the fine TiC particles, which distributed in the matrix, can be formed by using GTAW process.TiC particles possess gradient distribution along the depth of the coating.A good formation, microstructure and properties of the composite coating can be obtained by adjusting the preplaced thickness of the coating, welding parameters as well as amount of FeTi and graphite.
