The heterogeneity of root tip cells and tissues as revealed by in situ enzyme localization and isoenzyme patterns: A comparison of proteo- and esterolytic activities

1989
The root tip is a relatively simple and well defined developmental system. Moreover, germination is one of the best-provided biological processes. Taking genetically homogeneous material like seeds of a certified cultivar of crop plants, we obtain fairly standard objects. This led us to the decision to use seedling root tips in our research on enzymes as markers of cell and tissue differentiation, which is the main aspect of our studies on enzyme heterogeneity within the root tip.
