Early medical complications after renal transplantation

In the immediate post-operative period it is essential that monitoring of fluid balance begun in the operating room is continued. There is evidence that hypotension and hypovolaemia occurring in an ischaemic kidney may lead to more prolonged acute tubular necrosis. It is our policy to monitor central venous pressure (CVP), blood pressure and urinary output in the postoperative period to ensure optimum hydration and blood pressure.
