A low-cost high-performance magnetic test facility

1983
The realisation of a three-axis magnetic field test station is described. A field homogeneity of approximately 10-5 and a linear gradient homogeneity of approximately 10-3 in a 10*10 cm3 volume was achieved. The absolute value of the field is known with an uncertainty less than 10-3 and can reach an intensity higher than that of the earth's steady field. The three-axis field facility consists of four coils per direction wound on a 2*2*2 m3 wooden structure. A three-channel current generator with adjustable phases was designed for driving the coils.
