PENGARUH KONSEP HINDUISME PADA TIPOLOGI DAN MORFOLOGI KOTA YOGYAKARTA

The  establishment   of  a  city,  especially  starting  from  availability of  water and food.  In  its development, typology and morphology of the city affected by concept/belief. The approach taken in this study by historical method as a process of analyzing the records and relics of the past. This study results show the influence of Hinduism  concept clearly visible  from the determination of location, direction, outer spatial form, symbols contained in city of Yogyakarta. Determination of city left by river, using axis/imaginary North - South (flanked by mountains to the north and the sea in the South) and East - West. Hindu concept also affects pattern /l ay out structure of the city both buildings (the palace), street and square and serves as a symbol of human life from birth to death. Even the position of mosque is not directed to Qiblah but overlooking the square which indicates a strong  influence on imaginary  axis.  The  use  and  placement of  vegetation also embraced certain symbols based on hierarchy and levels of society and function. The species has a specific meaning and symbol placement tailored to the human life cycle.
