Googong Dam Flood Warning System
1993
The Googong flood warning system consists of water level recorders linked to data loggers programmed with HYDSYS software and communicating via telephone and radio to a pair of base station computers. Using Microsoft Windows 3.1 as a multi-tasking environment, these computers simultaneously monitor the status of the loggers and perform modelling, as well as undertaking appropriate response during extreme events. The difficulties in implementing the warning system under Windows are presented, as well as the main features of the Googong dam flood warning system.
