Pharmacognostic studies of Bacopa monneri (L.) Pennell. (Scrophulariaceae)

2015
Anatomic features (root and stem vessels, anatomy of node, Leaf anatomy, and Leaf epidermis) of 8acapa manneri, a medicinal plant were studied. In addition phyto-chemical analysis was also carried out for identifying major chemical groups (volatile oil, starch, protein, tannins, saponins, fats, glycoside and alkaloids). The node was unilacunar and one traced, the leaves were isobilateral and amphistomatic, venation was pinnate camptodromous-brochidodromous, marginal venation was incomplete and areoles imperfect. Starch, proteins, tannins, saponins, fats and alkaloids were present in root, stem and leaves, while glycosides were absent.
