A series of kc doses (n', n , , nk micro-organisms) is administered to ml , m2 , ... , mk test animals respectively, and the corresponding survivors are observed to number r, r2, , .rk (The terms "survivors" and "killed" whenever they occur subsequently, are meant to cover also the case when "not infected" are compared with "infected").
