Excess Molar Volumes and Densities of Multi-Component Liquid Systems At 298.15 K: A Comparison with Flory's Statistical Theory

2003
Densities were measured over entire range of composition for three ternary liquid systems viz. Toluene + n -heptane + n -hexane (I), Cyclohexane + n -heptane + n -hexane (II) and n -hexane + n -heptane + n -decane (III), at 298.15 K. The experimental excess molar volumes for three ternary liquid systems have been evaluated from measured values of densities. The theoretical predictions of excess molar volumes of these systems were carried out with the help of Flory's statistical theory. The theoretically computed values of excess molar volume were compared with the experimentally evaluated values. An excellent agreement has been observed. Intermolecular interactions have also been studied on the basis of excess molar volume.
