The expectations for VIR[*] from an industrial point of view

In this paper the historical and future development of a so-called Through Process Model for the production of aluminium products is discussed. It is concluded that the development of this tool carries great advantages from an industrial point of view. These include process optimisation in terms of cast and quality, faster introduction of innovative products and education and training. However, it can only be achieved though ongoing collaboration between the major players from the industrial and academical world.
