Anamnestic response to Lepto-spira canicola and infectious canine hepatitis antigens in Beagles exposed to 90Sr by inhalation or intravenous injection.

1970
The anamnestic response to Leptospira canicola and infectious canine hepatitis (ICH) virus was studied in beagles exposed to90 Sr by aerosol inhalation and intravenous injection. In addition to untreated controls, two groups of dogs, exposed by inhalation 1-3 days before being given the test secondary immunizing stimuli, received mean initial body burdens of 35 and 220 μCi/kg, respectively, and a third group given intravenous injections received an average initial body burden of 69 μCi/kg. The responses in both control and exposed animals reached peak titer for each antigen in 10 days, but titers in all exposed groups were partially depressed. The percentage of depression of titer as compared to controls was directly related to the initial body burden and to the cumulative absorbed beta doses to the skeleton. Dogs with the lower body burdens recovered their ability to produce antibodies after 5 months. Data from this and earlier investigations indicate that an initial body burden of 35 μCi/kg from inhalat...
