Rubbing treatment of liquid crystal oriented film

PURPOSE: To provide the rubbing treatment method which prevents the unequal display of a liquid crystal display device occurring in the wear of a rubbing cloth generated during a rubbing treatment. CONSTITUTION: The degradation in rubbing density by the wear of the rubbing cloth 2 is measured as a torque fluctuation of a motor 5 for revolving a rubbing roller by a torque detector 8 and a torque detecting circuit 9 and is taken into a computer 10. An actuator 6 is controlled in a negative feedback manner through an actuator control circuit 11 by the computer 10 according to the torque fluctuation. As a result, the vertical position of the rubbing roller 1 is changed and the pressure between the rubbing cloth 2 and an oriented film 3 consisting of an org. thin film is controlled, by which the rubbing density is maintained constant.
