Multilateral waterflood of a low-permeability carbonate reservoir

2002
The Shuaiba limestone reservoir of the Saih Rawl field in Oman is a nearly unfaulted, low-relief structure of large areal extent. Permeability is matrix dominated and relatively low. The reservoir contains approximately 90X10 6 m 3 of 35°API oil. Today, multilateral wells with as many as seven legs are used in a pattern waterflood development. A field-development review identified additional short- and long-term development opportunities.
