Augmented Histamine Test in Dogs Methods of Aspiration Technic

1972
Three methods of collecting gastric secretion in dogs are compared: 1) Gastric fistula (4 dogs); 2) a tube through the mouth, controlled by palpation via a laparotomy (6 dogs); 3) a tube through the mouth, controlled by radiographic screening (3 dogs). The study of the acid was performed as an augmented histamine test, 2–4 times on each dog. Acid determination has shown that the results from the three methods are on the whole reproducible. The third method is suitable for the study of the acid secretion in dogs with intact stomach.
