National Research Data & Software training coordination initiative kick-off

At the end of 2019, we - Mateusz Kuzak (eScience Center), Carlos Teijeiro (SURFsara) and Paula Martinez (TU Delft Library) - got together to exchange knowledge about Data and Software training initiatives at our respective institutions. Rapidly we recognized that it is relevant to discuss and coordinate those initiatives at a national level. There are already some collaborative efforts between institutions occurring around The Carpentries workshops. Still we believe that there are more opportunities to learn and help each other providing the needed training regarding Data and Software skills. Therefore, we would like to invite the coordinators and providers of Data and Software training at the different Research Dutch institutions to a face to face meeting/workshop at SURF facilities (Utrecht) to initiate a network that will allow us to: Gather knowledge about courses already in place at the different institutions  Get an overview of the  training competences available at the different institutions and, Investigate the possibilities of collaboration between institutions to fulfil the training needs of researchers in The Netherlands.
