Quality engineering encompasses all activities that ensure the quality of a product throughout its life cycle, namely product planning, product design, process design, production, and service after purchase. Unlike traditional quality control, quality engineering uses complex data analysis, statistical modeling and machine learning that are supported by various computer programs. The R programming language is one of the leading programs in this field, and this paper presents its wide field of application. Introductory, this paper explains simple quality control tools such as histogram, control chart, pareto diagram, the cause and effect diagram etc. After that, the paper is focused on the procedure of fitting distribution to empirical data, as well as the method of calculating the process capability. Following that is an evaluation on how the conformity assessment of a product affects the division of risk between the customer and the producer. In the final part of the paper the focus is on the conformity assessment and statistical analysis of tolerances using the Monte Carlo simulation.
