Local Stability for an Exact Steady Purely Azimuthal Flow which Models the Antarctic Circumpolar Current

A short wavelength asymptotic approach shows that for some realistic velocity profiles, an exact steady flow that models the Antarctic Circumpolar Current moving eastward around Earth with unchanging form in that direction, is locally stable.
