Neoplasie vescicali in pazienti di età inferiore ai 40 anni
2002
Our unit's case histories between 1965 and 2001 were reviewed to check the clinical-anatomical and prognostic characteristics of superficial bladder cancer. Recurrence and progression were more frequent in patients with multifocal (67% and 20% respectively) compared to monofocal disease (45% and 10% respectively) and more frequent in patients over 30 years (57% and 13% respectively). The grade of tumour also affected prognosis negatively (progression: G1 = 5%, G2 = 15%, G3 = 29%). In conclusion, superficial bladder cancer in young people should be treated on the basis of common prognostic factors, the therapeutic approach should be based on the grade and stage regardless of age and follow-up should be rigorous and long.
