A relationship between predisposition to thromboembolia (particularly in cerebrovascular diseases) and platelet functions is not yet well established, neither is the effect of cigarette smoking on platelets (Hawkins, 1972; McDonald et al., 1972; Deutschinoff, 1971; Koidakis, 1971).
