The Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act was introduced in 2007, requiring manufacturers to develop and implement a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) when a drug’s prescribing information alone does not ensure that the benefits of a drug outweigh its potential risk.[1][1]–[3
