Condroma Nasal: Relato de Caso

2016
Introduction: Chondromas are benign lesions composed of mature hyaline cartilage. Nasal chondromas are rare, and their common origin is in the nasal septum, nasal bone, paranasal sinuses and alar cartilages. Symptoms of cartilage tumors of the nasal cavity and adjacent sites depend on the location, size and tumor growth rate. Furthermore, the difficult distinction between differential diagnoses such as chondrosarcoma, often leads to initial misdiagnosis. objective: Report a case of nasal chondroma. case Report: A 34-year-old female presented left nasal obstruction and intermittent and recurrent episodes of epistaxis of 5 months duration. Anterior rhinoscopy revealed a nasal mass of which probable origin was the inferior turbinate. Computerized tomography images showed a well-defined mass, with hard palate and nasal septum invasion. The patient underwent surgical treatment by left lateral rhinotomy approach and a 3.0 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm mass was removed. Histopathology confirmed a benign tumoral lesion. No recurrence was seen after two years of followup. Final comments: Nasal chondromas are more common in young people, and should be differentiated from malignant lesions such as chondrosarcoma. The treatment is surgical with low rates of local recurrence.
