Evaluación de Bioimpedancia Cerebral en Individuos Sanos

2013
The brain edema, associated to different illnesses of the central nervous system is one of the most important elements to consider in the mechanisms of cerebral damage and in consequence of the drastic decrease of the quality of life and the risk of mortality of these illnesses. It’s important the measurement of edema magnitude with the purpose of adopting appropriate therapeutical behaviors. The Electric Bioimpedance offers facilities to be sensitive, non invasive, quick, repetitive and itinerant to carry out the determination of water distribution. The study consisted on the exam of the cerebral impedance in 31 healthy individuals, in order to establish the measurement technique and comparing the results with the reported by other international studies. For impedance measurement, the Bioimpedance Analyzer BioScan was used, the receiving electrodes were placed under the line of the foramen magnum and the injectors on the closed lids; it was guaranteed previously the cleaning of the skin. Two readings was took, the initial when beginning the measurement and a second after two minutes of the first reading. Previously was carried out the measurement of a phantom (electric model) designed to check the quality of the measurements. The main bioelectric variables was processed statistically and compared with the previous studies. As result was corroborate that the results are comparable with the reference studies, any adverse reaction was not reported. This results recommend the possibility of the study in patients with associate pathologies.
