Cyclolinear poly(organocarbosiloxane) bearing a strained disilabutane ring

Poly(1,3-disilacyclobutane-1,3-)diyl, the first representative of the cyclolinear poly(organocarbosiloxane) family based on disilacycloalkanes, was synthesized by heterofunctional polycondensation of 1,3-dichloro-1,3-dimethyl-1,3-disilacyclobutan and an analogous 1,3-dihydroxy derivative. The structure of the polymer was studied by 'H and 29 Si NMR and IR spectroscopies.
