The study of the structural dynamic can be very demanding task, so the first step in the system modeling is the simplification and approximation of geometric and mechanical parameters. In this procedure the mechanical properties of the structure are idealized, as well as the connections between the elements and the boundary conditions while maintaining geometry of the structure. The basic mechanical properties of the structure are the mass and stiffness of the elements of which the structure is composed. Therefore, dynamic systems are modeled by taking into account these properties depending on distribution in the structural elements. The paper presents examples of modeling systems with discrete and distributed mass and stiffness. For each of these systems, the basic dynamic properties and forms of oscillation are determined.
