Report of a case suspected as peripheral ameloblastoma of the gingiva

1990
The peripheral ameloblastoma is a very rare odontogenic tumor of the oral cavity, although ameloblastoma usually occurs centrally in the jaw bone. A case of peripheral ameloblastoma in the gingiva of a 49-year-old man is presented. The clinical and histological features of peripheral ameloblastoma are also reviewed. The tumor mass was encapsulated by connective tissue.Using local anesthesia, the lesion was excised surgically with a small amount of cortical bone, and no evidence of recurrence was seen 5 months later.
