Role of endovascular radiologic component in the combined therapy of locally advanced cervical carcinoma

: Data are presented on the treatment of 308 patients with cervical carcinoma stage II-IV. Standard combined therapy was given to 143 patients in control. The study group (165) received radiotherapy in conjunction with roentgeno-endovascular occlusion of the internal ileal arteries and/or regional chemotherapy. Use of the latter modality was followed by a significant rise in remissions and higher survival rate (58%) as compared with 45.9% in control.
