Photo- and X Ray Luminescence of the Impurity Cadmium Tungstate Monocrystals: Influence of Gamma Irradiation

1996
Results of investigations of spectral luminescent properties of cadmium tungstate single crystals doped with the silver and bismuth ions are presented. Spectral characteristics of undoped crystals are described briefly. A comparison of the absorption, photo- and X ray luminescence spectra 'before' and 'after' γ irradiation by 5.5 X 10 4 Gy was carried out. Characteristics of crystals doped with bismuth prove to be unchanged under irradiation, while considerable changes were observed in the absorption spectra and luminescence intensity for the crystals with silver impurity. These changes are reversible. Annealing of the crystals in oxygen recovers the properties of crystals doped with Ag + ions.
