Modulated fast bump for the CPS continuous transfer. [CERN Proton Synchrotron (CPS)]

1977
The CERN SPS receives beam from the CPS by the continuous transfer process. An outline is given of the role of a modulated fast bump in this process, and the magnets and pulse generators which produce it are described. Particular attention is given to the high voltage staircase pulse generator which determines the degree of modulation of the bump. Operating experience since the start of SPS commissioning is reported.
