Multi-block and sequence-controlled polymerization of glycopolymers, and interaction with lectin

Abstract Polymers with controlled molecular weights and sequences are expected to be functional polymers. Synthesis of multi-block glycopolymers were investigated to fabricate the functional biopolymers. The glycopolymers having mannose side chain with polyacrylamide backbone were polymerized with acrylamide derivatives. We synthesized of multi-block glycopolymers consisting of up to 9 blocks. The polymerization was conducted with rapid reaction in high yield. The multi-block glycopolymers with glycoblock at the both ends were prepared with narrow molecular weights dispersity. Molecular recognition of glycopolymers were analysed using mannose recognition protein of concanavalin A.
