Retrograde interlocking intramedullary nail for the management of femoral supracondylar fractures

2005
Objective To summarize the effect of retrograde interlocking intramedullary nail for femoral supracondylar fractures. Methods 13 cases of femoral supracondylar fractures treated with retrograde interlocking intramedullary nail were reviewed retrospectively. Results 13 cases healed in 4~8 months. No fixator looseness, bending or breakage was found. The knee and ankle joints function recovered satisfactorily. Conclusions Retrograde interlocking intramedullary nail provides good reduction, rigid fixation, early rehabilitation and high rate healing, which is an ideal way for femoral supracondylar fractures.
