On the Hypotheses Regarding the Causes of Channel Formation

2001
A combination of two alternative hypotheses regarding the causes of river channel formation is described. A two-factor classification of lowland river channels is suggested. Dual typification of different types of meandering is considered: by the limiting factor (limited and free) and by genesis (developed and undeveloped). The possibility to take into account three factors simultaneously is considered.
