Tunnel structures in Acetobacter xylinum
1988
Abstract The architecture of cellulose pellicles produced by the bacterium Acetobacter xylinum was observed using a scanning electron microscope. The existence of tunnels with regular orientation argues for some kind of coordination during the pellicle formation and against a random formation of cellulose microfibrils.
