Study of the excitation function of 56Fe(n, p) 56Mn threshold reaction

Abstract The cross section of the 56 Fe(n, p) 56 Mn threshold reaction for 14.616 MeV neutron energy was measured by the activation method. The experimentally determined value of the cross section is 107.5 mb and the experimental error is 3%. The relative cross sections for this reaction have been measured for 12.80 MeV to 18.26 MeV neutron energies and were normalized to the 107.5 mb value at 14.616 MeV neutron energy. The experimental error for the determination of the excitation function is 5%.
