Fast coagulation of nearly spherical ferric-oxide (hematite) particles. 1. Formation and decomposition of aggregates - Experimental estimation of velocity constants
1995
Abstract Using a single-particle light-scattering technique, we investigated rapid coagulation with monodisperse Fe 2 O 3 particles (haematite). It was revealed that the value of the velocity constant of coagulation, k 11 = 11.0 × 10 −12 cm 3 s −1 , was significantly closer to predictions by Smoluchowski's theory than to theories which allow for hydrodynamic and van der Waals interactions between spherical particles.
