Long-term effects of microbiologically modulated periodontal therapy on advanced adult periodontitis

The usefulness of topical antimicrobials as adjuncts to nonsurgical periodontal therapy is examined in a study group of 47 patients. The clinical and microbiologic results of treating 47 patients with moderate to severe periodontal lesions with antimicrobial therapy are presented.
