This study aimed to identify the execution of home visit to puerperal woman by FHS nurse; describe and discuss nursing care provided by FHS nurse during HV to puerperal woman. This is a qualitative study, which had as scenario the Basic Health Units belonging to Teresina-PI. Subjects of this study were 14 nurses. Data collection was made through interviews with semi-structured guide, recorded and fully transcribed. This study had as reference the content analysis and for material treatment, we used the technique of thematic analysis. Thus, it was possible create three categories: Investigative aspects of health conditions of puerperal woman and neonate in the HV; Health promotion actions during HV and difficulties and facilities of execution of HV to puerperal woman by FHS nurse. HV to puerperal woman consists in an extensive evaluation of the mother and neonate highlighting biophysiological, social and spiritual factors. We hope this study may contribute with information to a new perspective, beyond building knowledge about nursing that makes possible professional practice to puerperal women. Descriptors: Home Visit.
