A Hyperuniform Metasurface for Planar Luneburg Antenna

A hyperuniform metasurface for planar Luneburg lens antennas is designed and demonstrated in this letter. A spatial variable refractive index is achieved by printing hyper-uniformly distributed size-varying circular patches on a dielectric substrate to approximate the Luneburg law. Compared with the previous Luneburg lens designs using periodical or quasi-periodical unit cells, the hyperuniform metasurface is isotropic and provides more stable scanning properties at different angles.
