Sound scattering in liquids with phase transformations
2001
The results of theoretical research of linear and nonlinear scattering of acoustic pulses at various phase inclusions (PI - gas and vapor bubbles, crystallizing centers and solid particles, etc.) are presented, accounting for effects of phase transformations. It is shown that a feature of sound scattering at PI of various sizes is the presence of strong scattering at two sizes: at the resonant sizes and at sizes comparable to the length of a thermal wave for given frequency of the sound field (thermal “resonance”). The last circumstance is of interest for acoustical monitoring of crystallizing liquids with a nucleus of very small size (for forming of nano-structures).
