Tracking time domain to compensate temporary performance degradations of receiver stations in multilateration systems

2012
In this paper, a practical methodology to compensate the measurement errors, due to possible temporary performance degradations of the receiver stations in Multilateration (MLAT) systems, is proposed and described. This methodology is composed of a two proposed Time of Arrival (TOA) estimators that make use of previous set of TOA measurements along with weighted sums based on the Kalman filter theory. Some simulations are performed for a typical surface movement path and results for the measurement and position accuracy are calculated. For all the results important improvements are found.
